Billy Wagner - Wagner is likely out for the...
Billy WagnerWagner is likely out for the rest of the season, according to the Mets. Wagner has been sidelined since Aug. 3 because of a tender pitching elbow. He has tried several times to return, but hasn't been able to shake the pain. He tested his arm Sunday and had disappointing results. He will be re-examined Monday and is likely done for the season, manager Jerry Manuel said. Wagner is 0-1 with a 2.30 ERA and 27 saves in 34 chances. He is in the third season of a four-year, $43 million contract. The Mets are 22-11 since Wagner went down.
Nate McLouth - McLouth left the Pittsburgh...
Nate McLouthMcLouth left the Pittsburgh Pirates' game against the San Francisco Giants in the bottom of the fourth inning Sunday after being struck near his left eye by a batted ball. The All-Star center fielder dived for a sinking liner hit by Pablo Sandoval. The ball bounced in front of McLouth and ricocheted off him into left field, allowing three runs to score on the play. McLouth left with a cut above his left eyebrow that required three stitches, and was replaced by Nyjer Morgan. McLouth also required treatment from a Pirates trainer after he was hit by a pitch in the third.

Freddy SanchezSanchez had four hits and two RBIs for Pittsburgh in Saturday's 7-6 loss to the Giants. Sanchez is 6-for-10 in his last two games after going 1-for-7 in his previous four.

Roy OswaltOswalt threw a one-hitter in the Astros' 2-0 win over the Rockies on Saturday night. Oswalt struck out six, walked two and hit two batters. He threw 102 pitches and gave up only a leadoff single to Brad Hawpe in the fifth inning. Oswalt got his fifth career shutout, and first since a two-hitter on June 12, 2005, against Toronto. He extended his scoreless innings streak to 23 1-3 over three starts. After a tough start to the season, Oswalt has been untouchable recently, going 8-1 with an 2.12 ERA in his last 11 starts.

Jarrod WashburnWashburn will play catch Sunday to test his strained abdominal muscle, according to the Everett (Wash.) Herald. Washburn, who believes he was hurt while dodging a line drive in his last start, isn't sure when he'll pitch again. Washburn is 5-14 with a 4.72 ERA this season, and hasn't won since July 27.
Carlos Silva - Silva has been scratched...
Carlos SilvaSilva has been scratched from his start against the New York Yankees because of stiffness in his back. Silva said he has sharp pain in his upper back. The right-hander first felt the ache on Saturday during a workout. He came in Sunday morning and told team trainers and manager Jim Riggleman he could not start. Silva is 4-14 with a 6.53 ERA in his first season after signing a $48 million, four-year contract with Seattle. He returned last Monday from two weeks on the disabled list with tendinitis in his pitching elbow.

Matt TreanorTreanor left Sunday's game, not long after fouling a ball off his left knee in the second inning. Treanor grounded out to end the inning and then took his position, but walked off the field during warmups. Treanor is batting .232 with two home runs and 20 RBIs in 61 games this season.

Albert PujolsPujols hit a two-run home run in the Cardinals' 5-3 win over the Marlins on Saturday. Pujols is batting .464 (32-for-69) with seven home runs, 10 doubles, 18 RBIs and 14 runs in his last 18 games. "The last two months of this season has been the best that I've swung the bat since 2006," said Pujols, who is hitting .360. "Last year was a little up and down. I couldn't find myself at the plate, where I feel right now. The last six weeks, I'm driving the ball the other way. I feel great at the plate, seeing the ball better."
